Rely on this heavily for wood, vinyl and other hard surfaces. I have used on upholstery once and it did seem to work well. I clean cat litter boxes with this which are plastic so it is great on plastic. I think the secret is that it destroys the desire for the cat to revisit the place that previously was affected by urine. I never detect any residue of odor and I believe they do not either.

Cannot say anything about the stain removing ability as far as urine goes. I usually wash things right away so stains don't set in. I do not see any stain fighting ability for other stains like blood or food etc. It definitely does not work well on those stains. Odor destroying capability is great though. I rely on t his to clean any cat urine on blankets from their beds etc. I think that destroying the pheromones is key and it seems to work in that way. I use on vinyl and wood flooring too.
