Pet Horoscopes: Gemini Season Brings Mercury Retrograde Along With It
by Stacia Secreriat
Spring is officially here, and along with the new blooms, it also ushers us into one of the trickiest astrological months of the year. Change and growth are the themes of this month, and you may find yourself lost in a whirlwind of details and last-minute revisions before reaching your final solutions. Try to ride the wave, remain flexible and favor curiosity over frustration.
As for how the astrological skies impact the pet horoscopes for your dogs and cats, there is more energy and potential anxiety for your furry friends as well. Our pets pick up our human energies, so they may be reactionary to your busier schedule or increased stress levels. We’ve got you covered though, offering up some extra peace and harmony for your pets this spring.
Pet Horoscopes for Mercury Retrograde
There will be a Mercury Retrograde in Gemini from May 29-June 21. Mercury is the messenger planet, ruling our general conversations, thought patterns, and how the details of our lives work. It’s also the planet that governs our pets, so Mercury’s movements hold clues for how our furry friends may act in any given month. These retrogrades occur three times per year, and we can think of them as review periods. They are times where the details of our lives slow down, get mixed up or otherwise act in ways that force us to look for alternate paths to our routines.
In a positive sense, retrogrades help us think outside the box and challenge the status quo. On the downside, they can cause a bit of confusion or disorder in the Mercury-related details of our lives — including our pets. Watch for your cat or dog to get into a bit of extra trouble, or perhaps challenge their established training routines. You can keep your pets feeling relaxed and settled through regular attention and calming supplements.
Eclipses Will Also Affect Your Pet’s Horoscope
Another main theme of this month’s astrology is the two eclipses that will occur in Sagittarius and Gemini on May 26 and June 10. Eclipses act like a fast-forward button for our lives. They can speed up events, overwhelm with their chaos or help us quickly push through roadblocks that have been in our way. They are meant to be catalyzing times of revelation and change toward more positive outcomes. However, sometimes change is stressful at the moment it occurs, until we can relax and look back at our progress afterward. Make sure your pets are prepared for your busier schedule and help reassure them about any changes to their routines or environment. Anticipate some accidents or missteps, and give them a little extra forgiveness until this month passes. They should back to their happy-go-lucky selves once Cancer season arrives on June 22.
Aries (March 21 - April 19)
This month your pet is both looking for new alternatives to their daily routines and also wary of too many unexpected changes to their home environment. Find a balance between new stimulation and a sense of stability. This is a great month for learning some new parlor tricks or keeping your pet engaged, while still showing them reliability in their habitual needs, such as maintaining regular hours for sleep, food and exercise.
Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
Your pet is not known for rolling with the punches, so your stable and steady pal may need some help adjusting to any changes this month. Grounding your pet with a stable routine allows you to tackle any behavior issues that may arise due to stress this month. Try to implement any necessary schedule modifications before June 12th, when Mars enters Leo and will highlight more stubborn qualities for your furry friends.
Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
This is a big month for your pet, as Mercury retrogrades in their sign, followed by an eclipse. The season starts off with a pleasant, loving boost from Venus in Gemini through June 2nd. After that, keep an eye out for temporary changes to behavior through June. Help your pet adjust to the ups and downs of life by varying their activities to keep things fresh while keeping a reliable routine for their more basic needs. A little extra attention from you will go a long way to easing their minds as well!
Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
Venus, the planet of love and pleasure, enters your pet’s sign on June 3rd, easing tensions for the rest of the month and reminding your pet of the comforts of home and family. This energy brings out the snuggles and potentially the needy side of your best pal. Give them lots of reassurance, and bask in the glow of your mutual love. This is a fantastic time to deepen your bonds and let your pet help calm your nerves or ease tension in your own human life. Enjoy the chill vibes!
Leo (July 23 - August 22)
This season starts off relaxed and cozy, but things pick up speed on June 12th when the fiery planet of passion and energy, Mars, enters Leo. Your pet already has a strong personality, and they may insist on getting their way more than usual this month. Help curb any battles of the will by giving them extra physical opportunities to exhaust their increased energy levels.
Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
Your pet’s ruling planet Mercury retrogrades this month, affecting your dog or cat’s chart more than most. Help reassure your friend and keep them calm, while reminding them of their primary “job” around the house that keeps them focused on healthy expressions for their energy. Don’t expect perfection in their behavior, but nudge them toward qualities you prefer, and reinforce their more helpful traits with lots of praise and rewards.
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
Your pet is typically attuned to your moods and habits, which may increase their anxiety this month as your life picks up speed. Anything you can do to keep a harmonious home environment will benefit your furry friend, and joint adventures outside in the fresh air will give them the re-set they need. Keep their minds active but not overstimulated, and watch for new tricks or cute habits to emerge.
Scorpio (October 23 - November 21)
Your moody and private pet may seem extra reclusive this month, especially if things get busy or chaotic at home. Allow them plenty of solo time to rest, and watch them re-emerge into your daily routines beginning June 12th when Mars enters Leo and gives them a helpful push out of their comfort zone. Talk to your pet about any major disruptions to their routine, or ask them what they need. You may find that they communicate their desires more clearly than usual if you listen closely!
Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)
This season starts off with an eclipse in your pet’s sign on May 26. Watch for changes to your pet’s habits or tendencies in May and June, as they grow tired of their typical routines, and look for alternative ways of entertaining themselves. Help ease this period by introducing them to fun new activities and generally helping create a calm environment at home. This could be an effective time to break bad habits, as long as you show compassion for mistakes or accidents along the way.
Capricorn (December 22 - January 19)
The month starts off a bit cuddly or even clingy, until June 12th when Mars leaves your pet’s opposite sign Cancer and enters passionate Leo. Watch for a shift in this time toward more external activities and more physical energy. Keep your pet focused on their usual behaviors and expectations while remaining tender and forgiving about mistakes. They will be back to their typical routine-oriented selves toward the end of June.
Aquarius (January 20 - February 18)
Your pet’s mind is abuzz with fresh curiosities and a dash of mischief this month. Keep them aimed toward activities that provide an outlet for their new playful energy while still reminding them of the house rules. June 12th begins a more defiant period, where they may spend a few weeks testing your boundaries or wanting more praise. Anticipate this need by directing them toward behaviors you want to reward so they don’t look for other ways of seeking attention.
Pisces (February 19 - March 20)
Your sweetie may struggle to adapt to changes in their home environment or your work routines this month. Keep them calm, give lots of reassurance, and communicate directly about your schedule and expectations. Even if nothing is different about your home life this month, they may have a general sense of anxiety that can be soothed by attention, pets and positive reinforcement of good behavior.
